Makeworthy Press is a showcase of my bookbinding work. Someday there will be a store too, but the glue is still drying on the SSL certificate.
I’m a self-taught bookbinder and the author of two paperback memoirs that I rebound as hardbacks during the summer of 2024 after watching way too many YouTube tutorials. I spent so much money on supplies that I felt pressured to bind more books (or start eating glue like a silverfish) and got hooked on the hobby (and not the PVA, which is bad for digestion).
I am an old woman of the interwebs who can’t handle the toxicity and platform decay of social media, so I’m kicking it old school and posting my work on a blog instead. (When a trend gets old enough, it becomes cool again, right?) Bookbinding helps me escape the madness of the internet, so I’d prefer not to be distracted by an endlessly addictive feed when I could be crafting tangible objects instead.
I hope this site will be helpful to anyone who just bought a bone folder and is wondering what they’re doing. Happy binding, everyone!
