This is a sushi themed journal based on fabric I bought at Joann (RIP). I had fun making the page numbers bounce across the bottom of the pages as someone with chopsticks tries to eat them. It’s not quite a flip book, but the implied animation amused me as I designed it.
This was the first time I had custom endpapers printed, and I was a bit nervous that all the local print shops have laser printers that use toner instead of inkjets. I was warned that toner can ship off over time because it sits on top of the paper instead of being absorbed like ink is. However, ink runs when it gets wet, so laser seemed like a better option, particularly since this is a notebook that doesn’t need to last forever. It turned out fine, so I would be okay using laser printed endpapers again as long as I don’t need a book to last 100 years.
